Welcome to Lucky Break Reels!
We specialize in creating reels from scratch for actors based in Los Angeles. But, as a small production and post-production house we can also film and guide you on a project you might be wanting to produce, shoot your music video, edit your reel from existing footage or create a high-quality video for your business or website.

How we do it
Every client is different and we look forward to hearing what you need and want. We will first talk on the phone to discuss the different scenes, characters and scenarios. You might already have ideas for scenes, or we can adapt from Theatre/TV/Films. Most of our scenes are written by us with you in mind and are revised until we are all happy.
We will go over casting, locations, wardrobe and props. By the end of the meeting we should know the scenarios and the logistics needed for the shoot day. The first half is due after this call.
We shoot all scenes in one day. We typically schedule two hours per scene. For regular cost, the second half is due on shoot date.
We complete the edit in about two week's time to create a solid first draft of every scene. Then we work with your feedback and notes to make sure you are happy with the finished product.
♣ Logistics - Details, details...
Locations are very important and your own connections with cool places will come in handy. We'll try to incorporate props and costumes we already have and if we must get extra stuff it would be your expense. Some of the fellow players in your scenes can very well be actors you already know, but we can also put a breakdown online and get submissions for roles we will cast for specific types and production value. We've found that breakdowns which offer a flat reimbursement ($20 or more) tend to get the best submissions. Ultimately it is your call how much you want to pay your cast. We will also provide them with a copy of the scene for their own reels. Everybody wins!
♣ On set
Our meeting and communication will give us a clear picture of what you want so that on shooting day you can focus on your acting. From the first moment we meet you'll see how this is a collaborative effort focused on you as an artist.
If you are interested shoot us a line and we can talk about it! We love what we do and can't wait to make movie magic with you. Plus, we're extremely affordable given our quality, customer service and client reviews!

"Wonderful experience with these guys! They make sure that you get what you, exactly how you want it. Very friendly and cool, but also still professional. They shot a micro short film for me. They came in, set up, knew the exact shots so that we were able to move along really smoothly. All fairly quickly in less than 4 hours. And afterward, they were still very precise to get the end credits exactly how I wanted. The film quality, lighting, sound are all really great! I'm so glad a friend of mine recommended them to me and I will definetly do the same." - Lexie K. (Watch Her Scene!)
"Unbelievable experience. Fernando is a top notch professional. Fernando edited my HOSTING reel, my ACTING reel and edited my AUDIO reel. (...) My agents LOVE my reels. And the silver lining to all of this? Not only is he a nice person BUT he is AFFORDABLE! Book him while you can, when the word gets out on what an amazing editor he is he will be booked several months in advance. Thanks Fernando for an awesome job!!!" - Ali Y.

What are your fees for short film production?
It comes down to the amount of time we spend on your project. Since all scripts have different needs we have to get together and talk about how you want us to participate. Some clients might have everything written but need us to shoot and edit. Others may wish to edit their own footage. Maybe you have an idea and need some help with the script. Ideally, you can trust us to create a fun short movie knowing our protagonist must fit your type and range. Short films work as reel material but also as standalone pieces, making the process even more rewarding.
Shoot us a line and lets talk about it!
Can I get a copy of the raw footage?
Absolutely, at no extra cost. Just let us know and bring a hard drive on shoot day.
When are payments due?
For Regular prices: First half is due after our first pre-production meeting and before we start writing the scripts; second half is due on shoot date.
For Shared-Cost prices: First half is due after our first pre-production call to put you on the list; second half is due in installments on a per-scene basis as we find your matches for you.
Can I get a compressed copy of my video files for LA Casting or add previous footage to my new reel?
Of course- this is included. We want you to get out there and book jobs!
Can you make my website?
Yes! Our sister company SafariLab can make your website and show you how to keep it updated as your career grows.
Make it happen!
